Erin Sabado paints the plants he grew up with. Hawaiian Contemporary Ti is his watercolor of Cordyline, the island ti, done in the bold contemporary color he is known for. No computer. The steps are the ones his father taught him.
Ti shows up in hotel rooms, hospital floors, and the family galleries in Wailea and Wailuku because it already lives in those places. This piece is for a bedroom, a dining wall, or a bright entry that can take saturated pink and green.

DETAIL
Long sword-shaped ti leaves fan up from a dark magenta heart. The color runs fuchsia to burgundy, with lime and pale yellow breaking through the upper blades. Soft watercolor edges dissolve into a clean white ground.
