Serenade in the Sun looks across Hole 12 of Kapalua's Plantation Course in stronger midday light.
That lighting creates a very different photograph from Lance's sunrise and sunset work on the property.
The fairway and green become easier to read. Norfolk pines stand as clear vertical elements through the middle distance. Beyond the course, the Pacific and Molokaʻi push the eye much farther outward.
What Lance finds photographically useful about Kapalua is the interaction between designed and natural landscape.
A golf hole is highly intentional—graded contours, bunkers, greens and sightlines.
But at Kapalua, that design sits inside a much larger system of slopes, trees, ocean, island and weather.
Serenade in the Sun keeps those layers distinct.
At larger scale, the source information allows course surfaces, vegetation and distant landscape to remain individually legible instead of collapsing into one scenic impression.
